  • The Admirable Crichten

For those of you who love theater, I have an announcement. Unboxed Productions, which recently produced The Imaginary Invalid as an online live theater production, has recently held auditions for their next production, The Admirable Crichten. And you’ll never guess who got cast… okay, you’ve probably figured out it was me. I’ll be playing the part of Lord Broklehurst (time to dust off my British accent…)

    Unboxed Productions Online Theater

The show will air live via Zoom meetings on July 23 through 26. I’ll post more information as it becomes available. Meanwhile, to find out more about Unboxed Productions, check out their website.

  • The Imaginary Invalid – Live Online Theater

Unboxed Productions is a not-for-profit, locally-based, live, online, streaming theater and event company, which was born out of the darkest days of the pandemic in 2020 when nearly all live theater ceased operating across the planet.

Kim Sandstrom in Florida and Jan Thomas in Indiana, theater geeks since their high school theater days at Goshen High School in Indiana, made it their business to live up to the mantra, “The show must go on!”

The Imaginary Invalid is a three-act comédie-ballet by the French playwright Molière… back in 1673. Well, now it’s available online thanks to Unboxed Productions. The original performances were done live over Zoom in May of this year. Yours truly played Beralde, the brother of the protagonist) in Act III and Doctor #6 in Act IV.

So that’s where the new Danothy picture comes from – I needed a headshot for the show’s program.

  • New page added – Podcast Guests

Something I’ve been meaning to do for a while now – You can see the list of published podcast episodes, along with a link to listen to each, plus a link to the guest’s website, author page, etc. So I won’t announce new episodes here on the blog. Those will be on the new page Podcast Guests.

  • Writers Block Party – episode 17

This week local author H.R. Boldwood talks about her latest book in the Corpse Whisperer series: Whisperer Rising. She and I talk about how much of the public is too quick to dismiss a story by putting it in a niche (can you say zombie?) and she reads an excerpt from her new book. https://www.patreon.com/posts/wbp17-h-r-156377147

Just a reminder that Behind the Curtain subscribers enjoy an ad-free, early-release version of the podcast plus additional bonus material. To get these great perks on every episode and more, come and join us Behind the Curtain for a mere $5 per month. You know you want to…

Also, I’m heading out to several author events this weekend to mingle with more local authors and find out what they’re working on. In fact, I’m always looking for new artists to interview for future episodes of the Writers Block Party. If you have a book, music or other artwork you’d like to promote, send me a note, or email me; dan@danothygrimm.com. Tell people about your work and where they can find it. Come join the party!…

  • Moving my podcast

Having two separate podcasts can be a bit confusing. Even more so when they’re both under the same creator login. So, in order to better keep track of each, like unruly children, I had to separate them.

Writers Block Party is still available on my original patreon page: https://www.patreon.com/cw/DanothyGrimm. The main function of Writers Block Party is to talk with local authors, musicians, and artists about their work and, of course, to help promote their newest venture.

But the newer podcast, Altered Perceptions, is more about the actual story-telling. In fact, the first episodes are exclusively me reading various short stories, along with appropriate background music and occasionally sound effects to give the story some ‘umph.’ Plus there are so many other podcasts and websites out there using the words “altered perceptions” that it lost some of it’s charm for me.

SO… Altered Perceptions is getting a new home and will now be know as Grimm Tales.

Both podcasts have a free and a paid subscription option, so you don’t have to pay to play, although I do ask everyone to please subscribe, even if it’s just for the free version. That really helps me out and will help keep both podcasts going strong.

And, since they’re both my own creations, they look very similar on the page. If you haven’t already, please check them out & let me know what you think.

    Thanks for your support!

In the podcast Edward reads an excerpt from this (let me make sure I’ve got this right…) Western / Time-Traveling / Sci-Fi trilogy.
